Structure

The Air Force consists of the following Arms:

• Aviation (arms – bombardment, attack, fighter of air defense, reconnaissance, transport and special),

• Anti-aircraft missile troops

• Radio troops

• Special troops,

• Units and institutions of the logistics.

Bombardment aviation has armed with long-range (strategic) and frontal (tactical) bombers of various types. It is designed to defeat groups of troops, to destruct important military, energy facilities and communications units mainly in strategic and operational depths of enemy defenses. The bomber can carry bombs of different calibres, both conventional and nuclear ones, as well as guided missiles, air-to-surface missiles.

Attack aviation is designed for air support of troops, defeat of manpower and facilities primarily in the forefront, in the tactical and nearest operational depth of the enemy, and combat against aircraft of the enemy in the air.

High precision of attacking ground objects is one of the main requirements to attack aircraft. Armament: large-caliber guns, bombs, rockets.

Fighter aviation of air defense is a basic maneuver force of the air defense system and is designed to cover the most important areas and objects from air attacks of the enemy. It is able to destroy the enemy at maximum range of defensible sites.

At the armament of the air defense aviation there are fighter aircraft of air defense, combat helicopters, special and transport planes and helicopters.

Reconnaissance aviation is designed for aerial reconnaissance of the enemy, terrain and weather, can destroy the hidden enemy targets.

Reconnaissance flights can be performed by bomber planes, fighter-bombers, attack and fighter aircraft. For this they are equipped with special photographic tools of day and night recording at different scales, radioes and radars with high resolution, thermal direction finders, recording and television equipment, magnetometers.

Reconnaissance aviation is divided into the tactical, operational and strategic intelligence ones.

Transport aviation is designed to transport troops, military equipment, weapons, ammunition, fuel, food, air assault landings, evacuation of the wounded, sick, etc.

Special aviation is designed for airborne early warning and guidance systems, air refueling, electronic warfare, radiological, chemical and biological protection, control and communications, meteorological and technical maintenance, rescuing crews in distress, evacuating the sick and wounded.

Anti-aircraft missile troops are designed to protect the vital installations of the country and groupings of troops from enemy air attacks.

They make up the firepower of air defense (AD) and are armed with anti-aircraft missile systems and anti-aircraft missile systems for various purposes, having great firepower and precision of destruction of enemy air attack.

Radio engineering troops are the main source of information on enemy aircraft and are intended to maintain radar reconnaissance of them, to monitor the flights of our aircraft and compliance by aircraft of all departments of the using rules of air space.

They share information about the beginning of air assault, combat information for anti-aircraft missile troops and air defense aviation, as well as information for controlling formations, units and air defense subdivisions.

Radio engineering troops are armed with radars and radar systems, capable at any time of year and day, regardless of weather conditions and interference, to detect not only air but also surface targets.

Communications units and subdivisions are designed for deployment and operation of communications systems to control troops in all types of military activity.

Formations and units of electronic warfare are designed for jamming airborne radars, bombsights, communications and navigation means of enemy air attacks.

Communications and radio engineering units and subdivisions are designed to ensure controlling air units and subdivisions, piloting, taking-off and landing of aircraft and helicopters.

Units and subdivisions of engineering units, as well as units and subdivisions of radiation, chemical and biological protection are designed to execute the most difficult tasks of engineering and chemical provision respectively.
