Vice-admiral Nikolai Maksimov, Northern Fleet, Commander, since November 19, 2007.

Nikolai Maksimov was born on May 15, 1956 in Bolgrad, Odessa region, Ukraine.

In 1978 he graduated from Higher Naval School. He served as a group, branch commander, assistant commander, executive officer in the nuclear-powered submarine, Northern Fleet. Later, he became nuclear-powered submarine commander, commander of a squadron of nuclear-powered submarines.

Graduate from Navy Higher Specialized Officer Courses (1986) and Kuznetsov Navy Academy (1995).

In 2000, he graduated from the General Staff Academy and returned to the Northern Fleet where he continued his service as a semi strategic squadron, chief of staff - first deputy commander of the nuclear-powered submarines fleet, nuclear-powered submarines squadron commander.

In 2005 he was appointed deputy commander of the Russian Northern Fleet.

Nikolai Maksimov was delegated the duties as Northern Fleet Commander on 19 November 2007.

Maksimov is married with two sons.
