Admiral Mikhail Abramov, Chief of Naval Staff since September 4, 2005.
A native of Vladivostok, Mikhail Abramov was born July 6, 1956, to a family of a serviceman. After school he was admitted to Pasific Fleet Maritime Academy (1973) and graduated from it in 1978. Mikhail Abramov embarked on his Navy career as battery leader, combat department leader, senior assistant and captain of an escort destroyer.
A graduate of the Navy special officer courses and the Navy Academy of 1984 and 1989 respectively, Mikhail Abramov was assigned to the Baltic Fleet as an assualt ship brigade chief of staff. In 1990, he returned to the Pacific Fleet to continue his service as deputy brigade commander, naval squadron chief of staff and commander.
Prior to become a Pacific flotilla commander Mikhail Abramov was educated at the General Staff Academy and earned an honored degree there.
Mikhail Abramov was delegated the duties as Chief of Staff with the Russian Navy on September 4, 2005 following a related President's Decree.
In recognition of his distinguished service with the Russian Armed Forces Admiral Abramov has been awarded Military Merits and numerous medals.
He is a participant of combat voyages to foreign ports of Vietnam, Bahrein, United Arab Emirates and Japan.
Married with a son.
